The parka has been VERY well used since the 1980s, and is in pretty poor condition. It has with many visible repairs and discolored patches all over the parka. One of the oldest parkas available, it features a genuine coyote fur hood ruff, one of only 5 parkas we have which does.
Did you know that each Big Red used by the USAP program has a serial number written on the inside flap of one of the pockets? This serial number, used to help the program keep track of their gear, usually includes the parka size and the year it entered service.

This website sells parkas, clothing, and gear which have been retired from the United States Antarctic Program. All have seen service in one or more of the three American Antarctic research stations, unless specified otherwise in the product’s description. As such, they will show some degree of wear/tear/use.
