These REI-brand waterproof windbreakers were issued to scientists at Palmer Base on the Antarctic Peninsula, which features a much more temperate climate then the freezing mainland. While these windbreakers have all seen service in Antarctica, these hardy jackets are all in good to excellent condition with minimal scuffing or signs of wear. You may, however, find the name of the scientist who once wore it on the tag!
These windbreakers are all tagged Men’s Small, but are sufficient to fit medium as well.
The jackets don’t have Antarctic Program patches, but if you use coupon code dollar-patch with your purchase of this jacket, we’ll send you an Antarctic Program patch to iron on for $1!
These jackets are “REI Gore-Tex Windbreakers”. They feature underarm vents, a full zipper front with button snaps, waterproof hood, adjustable waist pull, underarm vents, and 4 external pockets. Gore-Tex exterior, fully waterproof. Made in USA, machine washable. REI product number RN-39264.
This model of windbreaker is vintage stock from the 80s/90s, and are no longer manufactured by REI. They’ve spent most of their time in storage at Palmer Base and Antarctic Program warehouses, so they may be some of the best-preserved jackets of their type.
Extremely limited quantity, first come first served. You will receive a randomly selected windbreaker of your chosen size. While all of these jackets are in good to excellent condition, we cannot offer any guarantees as to the exact jacket you receive, and cannot accept any returns or exchanges.
