This Snow Goose parka entered service in 1990, one of the oldest parkas we have on offer, and it features a genuine coyote fur hood ruff. The coyote fur ruff is VERY rare to find on surplus Big Reds these days, having been replaced with faux fur sometime between the late 80s and mid 90s.
It’s in uncommonly good condition for a parka of it’s age. The color is bright and vibrant, with very little of the fading which is typical for used Big Reds. There are a few minor stains on both the front and back, most notably on the left breast near the patch. There are two very minor repairs on parka’s front and another on one sleeve. These repairs are very subtle and difficult to see. The parka has no reflector, but shows no sign at all that it ever had one in the first place.
Did you know that each Big Red used by the USAP program has a serial number written on the inside flap of one of the pockets? This serial number, used to help the program keep track of their gear, usually includes the parka size and the year it entered service.
